Sales Designer

Basic Functions:

  • Prospect for new opportunities through networking, cold prospecting and developing alliance partnerships
  • Take project from concept to completion, managing the process after retainer
  • Measure job sites
  • Design cabinet layout using computer-aided programs
  • Develop concepts and ideas with Chief Architect
  • Complete product research and specifications
  • Help select material and finishes
  • Conduct client meetings
  • Establish champion list referral network from satisfied clients for on-going self-generated leads


Perform the following functions:

  • Develop using individual cookbook guidelines with weekly accountability
  • Market event participation to generate leads (not counted for self-gen)
  • Qualify clients using Sandler sales methodology
  • “On-boarding” using the retainer process
  • Review and understand client goals and preferences with Project Developer and/or client
  • Run meetings with clients in showroom to select product specifications for each project including design, colors, finishes, etc.
  • Create as-built drawings and conceptual drawings using Chief Architect
  • Coordinate and attend client off-site selection meetings
  • Document product selection and project details using appropriate forms
  • Design and layout of cabinets using computer-aided programs or hand drafting
  • Coordinate and submit product selections for vendor estimates and prepare information for estimating
  • Participate in pre-contract meeting, controller review, contract meetings and mid-job walkthroughs during production
  • Prepare and execute final contract documents
  • Sell a minimum revenue of $1.5 million annually
  • Maintain a minimum 30 percent closing rate
  • Document client relationships in CRM database
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to earn referrals
  • Participate in weekly individual meetings with Sales Manager
  • Participate in Controller review meetings

  • Working schedule is set by the individual sales consultant with the following guidelines:
    • Every other Saturday is considered a work day (or two Saturdays per month)
    • Work 1 – 2 nights per week with the latest appointment starting at 7 p.m.
    • Work trade shows

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • College degree in Interior Design or Architecture, or the equivalent professional experience
  • 3 – 5 years of industry-related experience
  • Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) Certification through NKBA preferred; must be completed within 1 year of employment
  • Certified Kitchen Designer and Certified Bath Designer (CKD and CBD) Certification through NKBA preferred; must be completed within 4 years of AKBD Certification
  • Sales experience: minimum of 5 years
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, CRM Tool
  • Sandler-trained candidate preferred
