Basic Functions:

  • Develop an understanding of clients’ needs and bring them to fruition
  • Take project from concept to completion, managing the process after retainer
  • Design cabinet layout using computer-aided programs
  • Develop concepts and ideas with Chief Architect
  • Complete product research and specifications
  • Assist in the selection of materials and finishes
  • Conduct client meetings
  • Measure job site


Perform the following functions with minimal supervision:

  • Review and understand client goals and preferences with Project Developer and/or client
  • Run meetings with clients in showroom to select product specifications for each project including design, colors, finishes, etc.
  • Create as-built drawings and conceptual drawings using Chief Architect
  • Coordinate and attend client off-site selection meetings
  • Document product selection and project details using appropriate forms
  • Design and configure cabinets using computer-aided programs 
  • Coordinate and submit product selections for vendor estimates and prepare information for estimating
  • Participate in pre-construction meeting, controller review, contract meetings and mid-job walk throughs during production
  • Document client relationship in ACT CRM database
  • Keep current with market trends and finish trends
  • Provide summary feedback to project developer throughout project
  • Prepare and administer construction contracts, addendums, sample forms and maintenance manuals for client
  • Conduct periodic on-site observations of construction work to monitor compliance with plans
  • Direct activities/consult with architects, interior designers and engineers engaged in preparing drawings or specification documents, if needed
  • Meet with clients to review or discuss architectural drawings
  • Plan layouts of structural architectural projects
  • Plan and design structures in accordance with environmental, safety or other regulations
  • Prepare information regarding design, materials and color
  • Develop final construction plans that include aesthetic representations of the structure or details for its construction
  • Prepare scale drawings or architectural designs using Chief Architect
  • Create three-dimensional or interactive representations of designs using Chief Architect

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • College degree in Interior Design or Architecture, or the equivalent professional experience
  • 3 – 5 years of industry-related experience
  • Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) Certification through NKBA or NCIDQ certification a plus!
